An Opportunity to Celebrate Keith Moffatt’s 81st Birthday

Almost 50 years have passed since the realization that helicity (kinetic and magnetic) is an invariant of ideal fluid mechanics and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). The striking discovery of its topological interpretation in terms of linkage of field lines, vortex or magnetic, has led to an outburst of research activities. This Symposium wants to assess the central rôle played by helicity and outline the emerging challenges, by focusing on the following main topics:

  • Conservation of topology
  • - energy relaxation methods
